In the hushed atmosphere of Victorian-era English tea rooms, friends and lovers showed their affection by exchanging bouquets of flowers, called Tussie Mussies. But the bouquets had to be carefully composed, as each flower had its own meaning!
Offer flowers, apply their effects, compose bouquets, and score more points than your opponents in this subtle card game with a delightfully devious mechanic, which also offers a particularly ingenious solo mode.
Tussie Mussie is a particularly elegant card game that invites players to exchange cards representing flowers, each obviously having its own meaning... and effects. The goal of the game is to get the most points after 4 rounds.
On their turn, the player draws two cards and consults them. Then they place them in front of an opponent. One face up, the other face down. This player must then choose which one they keep, placed in front of them. The other is then returned to the first player, by sliding it in front of them. The face-down card is therefore never turned over; only the player who drew it knows its nature.
This mechanic is remarkably simple... but also perfidious. Which card to take, which card to leave? As you build your strategy based on the cards retrieved or given, you can try to combine them to maximize the points obtained. And since the game consists of 18 cards, you can also try to deduce which cards you haven't seen. Are they in the draw pile, in your opponents' hands, or face down in front of you? The intensity of the games is remarkable and allows for particularly spectacular turnarounds.
Tussie Mussie is as simple as it is profound, and the mechanic of offering face-up and face-down cards provides incomparable sensations for a game that is so easy to learn. Each turn is a constant dilemma, with an attempt to read the opponent's play and their hypothetical bluff.
The particularly enjoyable solo mode also allows you to have fun and challenge yourself alone.
