Stratus is a puzzle game where you solve riddles by placing clouds over four grouped words, along with a keyword, which must also be found among the words! At the end, to validate the solution, the keywords form a humorous rebus.
Stratus invites players to engage in wordplay and association games. Through deduction, players must find connections between four words and a keyword present on the board. They must rely on synonyms, antonyms, categories, expressions, and so on.
Using the geometric shapes of the clouds, they must try to cover all the words. In the end, the 7 keywords must be read in a line to form a "phonetic" phrase, often a humorous rebus. This mechanism is reassuring because it allows players to observe their progress step by step, validated by the geometric shapes, and the discovered final phrase is a great reward.
Stratus is a fun and addictive language game, playable solo and aimed at teenagers, which is quite rare on the gaming market. Its originality lies in its mechanics and its final rebuses; it provides a reassuring pastime and almost certain success. It allows players to gain confidence in their abilities and then want to tackle more complex challenge games (Ricochet).
