A cooperative game with a twist!
Players take on the role of fireworks artisans who cooperate to create 5 fireworks displays of different colors. The clever twist in Hanabi is that players can never look at their own cards, which they hold facing their teammates.
To win, they must, by helping each other, create five ascending sequences of cards of the same color. To do this, each player can, on their turn, either give information about a color or a value of cards held by a partner, discard a card, or play a card. A blue token is discarded whenever information is given.
Before the 8 starting blue tokens are used up, players must discard cards to be able to inform their teammates about their hand again (one discarded card = one blue token recovered). A card placement is valid if that card completes or starts a firework color. As soon as a mistake is made, a red penalty token is given to the players. Collecting 3 of these means losing the game.
