Aurum
What if you had the power to turn everything into gold?
Aurum is a competitive or team-based trick-taking game of the most subtle kind. You play as an alchemist who transforms common metals into gold, scoring points by accumulating this gold and by bidding on the number of tricks you will win.
Win tricks by playing the highest value card or precious Gold cards if you play the lowest. But beware of the golden rule: you cannot play a card whose suit has already been played!
Game Rules:
With 3 players, Aurum is a competitive game, but with 4 players, you play in teams of 2 against 2.
Once all cards have been dealt, you make a bid on the number of tricks you or your team expect to win.
Then start the trick with any card that is not gold.
On your turn, you cannot play a suit that has already been played (unless it's a gold card). The highest non-gold card played wins, but gold is the trump suit and always wins. The player who played the lowest non-gold card adds a gold card of the same number to their collection, if available. All gold cards played in a trick are returned to the supply.
The round ends immediately when a player cannot play a valid base metal card and either has no gold card to play or chooses not to play a gold card.
If you win more tricks than your bid, you score the value of your bid as points; if you exactly meet your bid, you score double the value of your bid as points.
Additionally, you earn points based on the number of gold cards in your collection.
The player or team with the most points wins a gold nugget, and the first to have two wins!
